🌊 “Below the Surface, Beyond the Break”

By Maya Cruz, Find Your Coast Ambassador

I’ve always felt most alive in the water — whether I’m riding above it or diving beneath it. Surfing and freediving aren’t just hobbies. They’re how I listen to the ocean.

🏄♀️ Surfing: Rhythm and Recklessness

There’s nothing like the first paddle out at sunrise. The water’s cold, the sky’s pink, and the lineup is quiet. Surfing taught me how to read the horizon, how to fall with grace, and how to rise again with purpose. I chase swells from Baja to Bali, always with my Find Your Coast snapback tucked in my dry bag — sun-faded, salt-stained, and full of stories.

Every wave is a decision. Every drop is a commitment. And every ride is a reminder that control is an illusion — but flow is real.

🐠 Freediving: Silence and Depth

When I freedive, I leave gravity behind. I slip beneath the surface, lungs full, mind clear, and heart steady. The world down there is quiet — kelp forests swaying, fish darting, light filtering like cathedral glass. It’s not about conquering depth. It’s about surrendering to it.

I dive to remember how small I am. How vast the ocean is. And how peace lives in the pause between breaths.

Why I Do It Because the coast isn’t a boundary — it’s a beginning. Surfing and freediving connect me to something bigger, something older, something wild. That’s why I wear Find Your Coast. It’s not just coastal. It’s untethered everywhere.

See you in the lineup. Or below it. — Maya
