There are few vacations as relaxing as going near the ocean. There is something exhilarating about being on the edge of a continent, ready to plunge into the ocean waters that extend thousands of miles, connecting the globe. If you are about to embark on your next ocean vacation, there are a few things to do first. Here are three must-do’s before you take off for your an ocean vacation!

Get Your Boating License

You may be surprised to find out that you can’t just hop into a boat and speed away. You’re going to need a license to drive a boat. Luckily for you, however, thanks to the widespread nature of the open ocean and low likelihood of a collision, you can usually get your boating license online without any on-water training. All you must do is signup for an online course, which often costs less than fifty dollars, and pass, and then pass the test online as well. Then you will be free to rent and drive boats however you please.

Get Scuba Certified

If you love snorkeling and seeing the reefs and amazing fish that are waiting for you right on the ocean floor, then you will love scuba diving. Scuba diving, however, requires certification, as deep-sea diving can be dangerous. You need to have strong swimming skills to get a scuba certification. Unlike online boating licenses, you do need to have in-water training for a scuba certification.

Luckily, you can take courses online that can shorten the process so that you are ready for in-water training as soon as you get to your destination. Usually, you can get the first stage certifications done in just 2-4 days if you have learned online beforehand. Talk to the resort or hotel you are staying at if you want to get certified, as many oceans front resorts and hotels offer their own certification classes or have partnerships with local scuba trainers.

Research Beaches Before Booking

You should always research before booking your vacation at any beach. Some beaches have limitations or regulations regarding what kind of activities you can do in their waters. For instance, some will have limits on surfing, jet-skis, boats, parasailing, and so on. If you have your heart set on certain activities while at the beach, then make sure your vacation destination is a good spot for those activities.

There are few things as enjoyable as a beach vacation. But you can make your beach vacation even more enjoyable with a little preparation. Try doing these three things before you head off on your beach vacation so that you get the absolute best out of your trip.
